PROFILE
Aoi Furukawa was born in Nara Prefecture in 2000.
In 2022, “MY HOMETOWN,” which depicted the struggles of a girl who dreams of moving to Tokyo and the breakdown of her female-headed family in a countryside apartment complex that has come to an end, won awards at film festivals in Japan and abroad.
In 2023, she was selected to direct a filmmaking project in collaboration with the Nara International Film Festival and Fukuzumi Village, Nara Prefecture, and produced the documentary “A Piece of Sunlight” set in Nagataki Town, Tenri City, Nara Prefecture.
Focusing on the interaction between children who have moved to the village and elderly people who have lived there, the film documents how life is being reconnected in a mountain village that was once called a marginal settlement. In the same year, he belonged to Bunbuku.
In 2024, she produced “Nanako no Koiwazurai” , an extended vacation for the protagonist who lost all his money due to adultery, which was distributed by ABEMA.
Currently, she works as an assistant director for Bun-buku films.
